While Melanie has dabbled in oil and watercolor painting, she prefers the versatility of acrylic. Her colorful landscapes and florals have been said to “evoke a range of emotion in the viewer, from quiet contemplation to bubbling-over joy”.
“I have no choice but to paint – it is like breathing for me,” Melanie said.
Melanie’s award-winning paintings have appeared in Cottage Journal, Art Galleries & Artists of the South and Birmingham Home & Garden as well as on HGTV’s Nashville Flipped. She has been the featured artist at The Art Show at Bennett Galleries in Nashville, Tennessee and Southern Voices in Birmingham, Alabama as well as The Grand Bohemian Gallery in Mountain Brook. Her contemporary palette knife paintings appear in several corporate collections.
After growing up in Jackson, Mississippi, Melanie lived all over the South. Now, along with her husband, author Michael Morris, she calls Birmingham home.
