Laura Lein-Svencner studied drawing, printmaking, sculpture and papermaking, however it’s her love of paper that continues to pull her back to abstract mixed media collage. As an art workshop instructor, Laura presents collage as a fluid medium that illustrates where it’s been and where the art form is growing. She loves helping students explore the endless possibilities that the mixed media collage presents.
In addition to leading workshops at Ephemera Paducah, Laura also teaches collage techniques at Mayslake Peabody Estate in Oak Brook, Illinois, and online. She has had work published in North Light books’ Incite I, II, and III, as well as AcrylicWorks II, The Art of Expressive Collage by Crystal Neubarger, The Artist Magazine, The Professional Artist Magazine, Cloth Paper Scissor Magazine, The Watercolor Magazine and Collage in All Dimensions by Gretchen Bierbaum.
Laura is a signature member of the National Collage Society and is the co-founder of the Midwest Collage Society. Her collage work is exhibited at Woodwalk Gallery in Egg Harbor, Wisconsin.
When not in the classroom, Laura enjoys life with her family in Darien, Illinois. She replenishes her spirit with walks through the woods and getting out in the yard.
