There is the coolest book, ya’ll! I devoured it and want to share it in practice in a 3-week series workshop!
“Rip in your jeans? Snag in a sweater? Tear in a tea towel? They all present an opportunity for one-of-a-kind creativity! With this fun introduction to unconventional mending techniques in a format that’s half how-to guide, half idea book, anyone can give worn and torn items new life.”
“Start by learning hand-mending methods, including boro, embroidery, patching, and darning. Even with a limited budget and not much time to spare, you can create eye-catching repairs with visible mending–35 examples and more than 150 photos make it easy to put your unique mark on everything you mend!”
We will explore this book over 3 sessions with tons of stitching each time we meet.
- Boro Stitching
- Hand Embroidery
- Patches (if we have time we’ll haul out the sewing machines, too)
Your registration fee includes a copy of the book, Visible Mending as well as some specialty supplies (access to the Studio stash)
Students will need to bring:
- a basic sewing kit with scissors, needles, thread, etc. If you don’t have one we can put one together for you!
- A few washed, much-loved, used, favorite items of clothing like a pair of jeans and a sweater/hat. Jeans are important for the first night and we can talk about other items then.
Before registering for this class, please review our Cancellation Policy, updated September 2018.
