Lettering Weekend with Kelly Klapstein

Treat yourself to a weekend of Brush and Watercolor Lettering with Kelly Klapstein!

Your weekend of Lettering will start with Introduction to Hand Lettering at 1:00 pm Friday afternoon, June 21 with (4) hours of instruction. Using a variety of writing tools, you will learn the basics of typography and creating alphabet styles. Several quote designs will be practiced, along with combining lettering styles for effective and pleasing layouts. You will also create simple watercolour backgrounds and wreaths and florals for your hand lettering projects.

Saturday: Breathe. Write. Relax. Learn the calming, meditative art of calligraphy. Starting at 10:00 am with a break for lunch (provided) and wrapping up around 4:30, you will study the basic strokes and lowercase alphabet using Kelly Creates workbooks, brush pens and practice paper. With Kelly’s guidance, you will learn the correct technique, hand control, and best tips to write beautiful, fluid letters in this Beginning Brush Lettering workshop.

On Sunday, you will finish up your weekend with a flourish diving into Watercolor Lettering. We’ll start at 9:00 am and take a break for lunch (provided), getting you on the road home by 3:00. You will explore the beautiful world of watercolour lettering with easy to learn techniques. No experience is necessary as you will learn about letter styles and how to achieve colourful effects, like rainbow and galaxy letters. You will complete two watercolour monograms suitable for framing.

And, of course, we’ll be stocked up with all sorts of Kelly Creates products!

Students should bring:

• Size 1 or 2 Round Watercolor Brush
• Fine Waterbrush
• A 9″ x 12″ pad of 140 lb Fabriano Hot Press Watercolor Paper

Please note that your $99 deposit is nonrefundable but is applied to your balance. Not paying your balance before May 1, 2019, will result in the loss of your deposit and place in class.
