Kate Thompson loves to push mixed media to its limit. The past several years through fearless experimenting she has discovered some very cool and mysterious techniques that she would love to share with you!

She will show you everything she knows about working with linseed oil, graphite, and charcoal as well as watercolors, a few acrylics, gesso, and joint compound. Drawing with a pencil as well as needle, thread, and wire. These techniques will be demonstrated and incorporated in your final pieces. That is just the start of it. You will also work on collage using vintage book pages and image transfers.

Not only are the mediums unconventional but the substrates are as well. You will work on watercolor paper, vintage ledger paper, vintage fabrics, and laces. Joint compound will be added to create depth and texture.

Kate will demonstrate her portrait techniques that work so well with the mediums you will be using. You will be provided templates so if you are new to painting portraits you will have an outline guide to follow! NO FEAR!

Kate will provide: vintage fabric, gesso, ledger paper, linseed oil, photocopies of images, ¼ angular brush, wire, joint compound, Stabilo pencil, loose charcoal
