Introduction to Enameling
July 8, 2017
6:00 am - 12:00 pm
Through the use of Copper and Color Shand will introduce students to a variety of beginning metalworking techniques. In the morning you will stamp, drill, texture, and color copper charms and ornaments. That afternoon, we will add color through juicy, bright, glass enamels on the copper. Each participant will take home at least two (2) finished projects choosing from the copper blanks provided (earrings and pendants in various sizes and shapes). If you work quickly, we’ll have extra blanks on hand for purchase!
This is a perfect class for beginners or those who would like to expand their jewelry-making skills. With the small class size, Shand is able to tailor-make your experience with new techniques and processes. Those new to the art form will have plenty of instruction and be able to leave class with something they love. The picture to the left is work done by one student in our last class!
Everything is included, so no supply list. However, if you work better with extra light and magnification, please bring a work lamp as well as any magnification deemed necessary. The work is not particularly small, but this way you won’t have to share if needed.
We will take a break for lunch. Kristin will do a lunch run from one of our fine local restaurants or students may bring a lunch.
The minimum age to participate is 18 however if accompanied by an adult who is also registered, their child aged 14-17 is welcome.
Minimum needed to make this class is 3; maximum is 8.
