  • Day 2 - Colorful Layers
    March 5, 2022
    9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Join Carolyn Dube for two days of gel printing fun making colorful prints! Great prints aren’t random and by the end of this workshop, you’ll understand different ways to get color to play on the gel plate to how to blend your paints – both subtly and boldly! And of course, without any mud! This means no more guessing how to get the kinds of prints you want!

One of the key factors for getting great layers is knowing when to blend the paints and when not to blend. This is what builds up vibrant mysterious layers in your prints. So how do you know when to blend your colors and layers and when not to? That’s what this workshop is all about! And there are techniques in here that she hasn’t taught anywhere else!

Carolyn breaks down the process step-by-step, so that no experience is needed and explains the why behind it all. That’s why both beginner and experienced printers get so much out of a workshop with her – because having a deeper understanding takes your gel prints to the next level.

So if you’re looking for two days of laughter, play, and fun while gel printing, come join us! And there’s an itty bitty supply list for you, so there’s not much you have to pack. Carolyn’s bringing the Gel Press plates, brayers, StencilGirl stencils, PanPastels, paper, and mediums for you to use along with a variety of printmaking tools so that you walk out the door with prints you love but more importantly, with a solid understanding of gel printing to get the most out of your plate!

What to bring:

All you need to bring is paint and an apron (or use the ones provided in the Studio). What kind of paint? Any acrylic paint you like to use in black, titanium white, and 10 colors you love! Carolyn uses medium to thick paints. Examples of this are Liquitex Basics, Amsterdam Standard, Liquitex Heavy Body, or Golden Heavy Body.
