Those who have visited the shop comment on the cool slick glossy finish atop some of the art adorning the walls. (Yes, this is what’s in the bathroom in the Studio.)
Join us for a workshop, perfect for beginners and experienced folks, alike, where we’ll spend a day & a half creating two (2) fun or whimsical or meaningful collages with layers of acrylic paint, spray paint, stencils, paper, fabric, 3-D elements, glitter, Posca pens for mark-making and all kinds of cool stuff. Everyone will receive 2 wood panels to work on – your choices of 8″ x 8″,10″ x 10″, 12″ x 12″, and other sizes we have on hand.
On the first day, we will collage and paint, adding 3-D elements before we leave for the evening to let everything get good and dry. The next morning we’ll add finishing touches with Posca Pens, seal everything really well, and, if dry enough, we’ll pour resin on top of them which will set in about 12 hours. We will arrange pick-up times or shipping before the end of class. Likely you will be able to pick up your pieces at a pre-arranged time on Sunday (@ Noon).
Although all supplies are included in this workshop, you are encouraged to bring personal items (paper, fabric, small 3-D objects, photographs) to include in your collages. If the items are precious, photocopies do just as well.
Also, be thinking about your subject matter. Simple images work great using a reductive painting technique. Words are powerful as well. We will have lots of inspiration for you but if decision-making is hard for you, spend some time pondering subject matter and colors before you arrive.
No experience is necessary, but the minimum age to participate is 16.
As always, lunch Friday, drinks, and snacks are included.
If there’s an arty group who would like to stay in The Loft (it sleeps a maximum of 8 friends in 6 beds) for this workshop, one of you needs to grab the Loft + Class option, below. Check out The Loft for photos and details.
